Jay has a wide experience as a collaborative pianist. He has seldom accompanied violin, vocal, bassoon and flute candidates for concerts and examinations. He accompanied the Bow Church Choir (South East London) on the Organ or Piano on many occasions.

Jay is currently based in Strasbourg, France, from where he conducts piano, music theory and vocal lessons online.

“For this workshop, I am presenting my own composition, ‘From My Balcony’, arranged for voice and piano. The words are by John Collingbourne, who wrote this poem as a result of the stresses of COVID-19.

I have had the great fortune to attend Chris Caine’s workshops on composition/improvisation (recently hosted by TL) and through his teachings, I feel I have learnt a great deal about harmony, counterpoint, cadences, rhythms, musical structure and a lot more. These excellent lessons with Chris, which he often delivers with good humour and thorough academic rigour at the same time, have been very inspiring and have played a major role in the shaping of all my recent compositions, including ‘From My Balcony’.”

She is currently studying the works of Beethoven and Chopin for performance and is interested in the pedagogy of inculcating artistry at every level of learning.
